Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy is a living document that has been informed by my experiences as a student, a mentor, and an instructor. I enjoy helping beginner students build scaffolding for learning ecology as much as I am inspired by the insights and independent research of students in advanced courses. I aim to always improve my instruction and the experience of my students, some of which you can see in the student evaluations pictured below. While I have not yet led my own independent course, I am learning from my experiences as a teaching assistant and lab instructor to consider the importance of active learning, formative assessments, and inclusive classrooms.
